Community Care of St. Catharines & Thorold

Canadian Tire Jump Start Program

This community-based charitable program from the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families offers opportunities for children from low-income families to participate in organized sports or recreational activities such as hockey, soccer or swimming. Participation helps kids build self-esteem, while improving social skills, concentration and character. Community Care identifies families that will benefit from the program and is pleased to act as a local liaison connecting families and the foundation.

Emergency Services

We are able to provide, on an ad hoc basis, emergency aid for specific needs that do not fall within our mandate.

Layettes

Due to the support of the ladies of several church groups, we are able to offer layettes for newborn babies.

Niagara Nutrition Partners

Niagara Nutrition Partners is a region wide initiative that provides the community with opportunities to develop and co-ordinate breakfast, lunch or snack programs in DSBN and NCSSB schools. Niagara Nutrition Partners support over 100 nutrition programs in the Niagara region, giving students an equal opportunity to learn and thrive. For more information on school locations in your area, contact: Dee Kozlowski at 905-685-1349.

Savoury Samplings

This program offers clients a taste of a heart health recipe. Everything is provided from the recipe to the ingredients. As a result of our partnership with Niagara Heart Health we are able to provide this program once each week.

Think Food Program

This is a win-win program for everyone concerned. Companies and individuals collect used ink jet and laser cartridges and old cell phones and we return them to thINK FOOD in Toronto to recycle them, keeping them out of our landfill sites. thINK FOOD pay us for each cartridge and phone that is recyclable so that we may purchase food for our clients. Should you care to donate to this program please drop off used cartridges and cell phones to 12 North Street, St. Catharines. Should you and your family or business like to participate on a larger scale please contact us at 905-685-1349.
