Community Care of St. Catharines & Thorold

Thank You For Your Interest In Christmas Sponsorship

Be a Shining Star!

90% of registered families receive help through Community Care directly. Approximately 6,000 people were assisted for Christmas in 2006. Food vouchers are given to the families and toys or gift certificates are given to children up to 13. (excluding extenuating circumstances) We require significant financial support to ensure this program is able to meet the needs of all registered. Please donate generously to the Shining Star program. Tax receipts available over $10

Adopt-a-Family:

10% of people registering for Christmas are afforded the once in a lifetime opportunity to be adopted by a family, group or business. As a sponsor, you will be matched with a registered family and provided with their personal wish list. You will be responsible for shopping for the family, including a small gift for the parents(s) and a food voucher from a local grocery store. Please expect the average overall cost to be approximately $100 per person. (example: family of 3 = $300, family of 5 = $500 including food voucher and gifts) Upon receiving your information, we then match you with the family size you have requested, within your budget. Once we have made a match, a wish list will be forwarded to you so the shopping may begin! To get started, please download our guidelines and information sheet, alternately we can mail or fax these forms to you.

Adopt-an-Angel:

We will forward gender and ages of children that you creatively place on a Christmas tree. The tags are removed by your staff, organization or family to be replaced by a toy.

Barrels:

We will deliver and pick up food, clothing, toy or coat barrels upon request. Please contact Maxine Parshotam.

Volunteers:

“Packers” are always needed to sort food as it arrives at Community Care. Gather your friends, co-workers, relatives or students requiring community service hours, to book a time, day or evening. Please contact Marcy Heit for more information.
